Digestive Supports

Digestive Supports

Healthy digestion is the foundation of our physical wellbeing.  As digestive ailments are all closely related to emotional stress, it’s an important system to regularly support, cleanse, and nurture. The tools below help to support digestive capacity, and rejuvenate the tract.

SESSION OVERVIEW

I begin with a brief overview of the topic area, oftentimes presenting my own cases.

There will always be interactive portions, whether that's partner work to build skills and clarity, or a group exercise.

Show up prepared to engage and you'll get the most out of the experience. We're all a team supporting YOUR manifestation.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

We start out defining your goals in the first session, and supporting you to create the structure of your offering.

I've organized assessment skills across the three main pillars of health in Ayurveda - Food, Sex and Sleep. Of course, these really represent nourishment, rejuvenation and creative inspiration/potential. Within each, you'll be guided to feel and inquire after client patterns. In between assessment and presentation, you'll have time to research and put together ideas for healing patterns and approaches

We'll end with discussion of how to handle common challenging situations with intimate one on one work

I've emphasized learning through group discussion, as a core approach throughout the 8 weeks.

Space is limited so we can go deep and you can feel supported.

8 small group sessions on Zoom

Each session lasts 2 hrs

weekly Wednesdays; we'll figure out a time that works best for our group

DAILY OILING

DAILY OILING

Here are my tips for Daily Oiling.

VP BALANCING (more Vata help)

Mix 3 parts Ashwagandha Bala Oil with 1 part Brahmi Coconut OilAlternatively, try the Vata Massage Oil – it’s spicier.

PV BALANCING (more Pitta help)

Mix 1 part Ashwaganda Bala Oil with 3 parts Brahmi Coconut OilAlternatively, try the Pitta Massage Blend – it’s a bit more moisturizing and has more herbs.

VK BALANCING

Both Vata Massage Oil and Daily Massage Oil are VK balancing.

DAILY SELF CARE

DAILY SELF CARE

A lifestyle built on practices to feel healthy and happy is our greater wellness goal. I love the Daily Routine Bundle as a starter kit, a cost effective bundle, and for travel.

TOOTH POWDER

I love using Tooth Powder instead of toothpaste, avoiding a daily dose of unnecessary chemicals.

TONGUE SCRAPING

Tongue Cleaner is a great way to improve oral hygiene and stay in touch with your state of agni and level of ama build up.

OIL PULLING

While organic coconut oil is my standard go to, Daily Swish is a divine blend of herbs and essential oils.  Learn the benefits and technique in my video.

NETI POT

I highly recommend using a stainless steel 16oz neti pot over the smaller ceramic ones. It's the correct size and has less chance of lead toxicity, and does well with high temps and travel.

NETI SALT

I use Natural Mineral Salt in my neti and in my kitchen.

NASYA OIL

This Nasya Oil is great for sinus-love, and if you were using our nasya oil for your ears, try this Ear Oil

FACE HERBS RECIPE

This pure herbal blend is an amazing daily cleanser, gentle exfoliant, and face mask. See my recs for how to use it here.

Mix equal parts chickpea flour with the following herbal mix:

  • 4 parts Slippery Elm powder
  • 2 parts Rose petal powder
  • 2 parts Bhringraj powder
  • 1 part Neem powder

SOAP

The Cedar Eucalyptus is a solid Vata soothing experience, while the Neem Aloe is nice for inflamed and irritated skin.

NEEM OIL

Use Neem Oil as a spot treatment for acne, cysts, or any thing inflamed or infected.

CASTOR OIL

Use Castor Oil on dry areas of the body, lips, eyelashes, eyebrows.

Here is a blend that supports the upper respiratory and immune systems.

If you loved my Cough and Cold Tea, here is how to make it with medicinal grade herbs:
4 parts Ginger powder
4 parts Echinacea powder (my recommended brand for this is Starwest)
1 part Clove powder (here is my recommended brand)

If you have cinnamon and clove and cardamom in your kitchen, all good. But the Licorice, Ginger, and Echinacea I would go for the right grade/high quality.

Alternatively, not for taste, but for function, you could try Banyan's Immune Health Now Tea.

why i love ayurveda's approach to herbs

why i love ayurveda's approach to herbs

Formulas are tailored to come at an issue from all sides. This avoids overshooting in any one direction, and prevents side effects. I prefer formulating with 4-6 herbs, and that is what I recommend on this page.

Rehabilitating our tissues is always included in the goals of formulating. This means we are always honoring that when in good shape, the body does what it’s meant to better than any supplement.

We always include something to support digestion of the formula, so the herbs get to the tissues they are meant to support.

We don’t use isolates, or parts of the herb considered “active.” We use the whole herb. Herb plants are regarded as living beings, and we understand that we don’t fully know the magic of how all parts of an herb synergize.

They don’t come with a side effect profile, and are gentle enough for all ages.

Self care and ritual is encouraged as part of the healing process of using herbs.

Herbs are meant for short term support with long term benefits. While I may choose to use Triphala for the rest of my life, there’s never an expectation of dependency.

I teach clients to be able to modify their herb allies according to the signals from their bodies and awareness of patterns. This allows herb support to become another way to feel empowered in your wellbeing.
